4 Key Components for a Captivating LinkedIn Carousel Post

There’s a new wave of content on LinkedIn, have you noticed?

Yep, you guessed it. CAROUSELS. If you’re thinking, “This is soooo Instagram in 2017,” you are EXACTLY right! You can read more about my theory on why that’s ACTUALLY the best thing ever (plus, how to actually post a carousel even if you’re not a “creator” who’s been granted the feature) in this post right here.

Anyway, if you’ve dabbled in posting carousels, but you’re wondering how to REALLY make the most out of this type of content, today I’d love to share 4 simple, but totally key components to making your carousels CAPTIVATING. Because what’s the point in putting the time in to create content if no one’s ever going to read it? So, let’s get into it.

4 Key Components for a Captivating LinkedIn Carousel Post

To “captivate” actually means to “attract and hold the interest of.”

So, that means if you want to create content that TRULY captivates the right people, you need to do more than just get their attention, you’ve gotta hold onto it until the very end.

That may seem a little challenging and abstract, but when you focus on a few key aspects inside of your carousel posts, you’ll find this to be an easily repeatable process that’ll create more traction with your audience over time.

So what are those 4 things?

4 Simple, Game-Changing Components:

  1. Tell a COMPLETE story.

It may seem obvious, but be sure that your content has a beginning, middle, and end. This can be a traditional beginning, middle, and end in a story form OR it can be an informational version with an intro, actionable content, and then a close with a CTA. Either way, make sure that you’re choosing a small enough topic so you can fully develop the content rather than leaving your people hanging.

  1. Keep it short, sweet, and concise.

We can’t solve World Peace in a single carousel post, alright? That was a joke (Miss Congeniality anyone?) but in all seriousness, don’t try to tackle TOO BIG of a concept or give every possible insight inside of one carousel post. This can actually work to your advantage in creating MORE content! If you have a carousel post that is straight and to the point to begin with, you could create your NEXT carousel post with a spin-off deeper dive on one piece of the previous post. In other words, feel free to let your brain go wild, but be sure to keep things tight before you actually hit “post.”

  1. Educate and be insightful.

Even though you’re an expert in your field, we know you’re not the ONLY expert in your field. So, what will set you apart in the minds of the people you’re aiming to lead? In our content-centric world, information has become a commodity, but your unique take on things will be what helps you stand out and really start to STICK with people. So, as you give your 5 Steps to Becoming a Better Boss, be sure to infuse your take on things, your values, your experience to make it really stand out.

  1. Provide actionable takeaways.

Inspiration means nothing without ACTION. So, if you’ve got some FIRE content, make sure not to light up your audience without then giving them something to burn down! Maybe I took that analogy a little too far, but here’s what I mean: always give your people a tangible way to ACT and APPLY, even in the shortest forms of content.

Which of these do you find the most intriguing when it comes to consuming content? Is there anything I missed?

P.S. Are you posting content without a LinkedIn Profile that’s optimized for your business goals? If so, I’d love to help you set up your profile for the success you really want (instead of finding random people from high school who are “open for work”). You in?
