How to leverage your LinkedIn Articles in your business
Have you ever experienced that excitement that happens just as you're about to hit ‘publish’ on your LinkedIn article? The one you so thoughtfully crafted for your community in hopes it serves them when they read it? All to have it sit on your profile with the hope that people read it when they visit your page?
What if I told you there was a way to leverage your articles in your business that helped keep you top of mind for your audience, leads, and clients? That’s something you’d want to know more about...isn’t it?
Let me back up and say, if you’re not currently posting articles on LinkedIn but have a blog, WHAT THE HECK! Turning blog posts into articles on the platform is one the the easiest ways to repurpose your content for LinkedIn. PLUS! LinkedIn LOVES articles and it supports you in being seen as a Thought Leader.
PRO TIP: Copy and paste the blog into an article that’s hosted on LinkedIn itself. Remember, like most social media platforms, LinkedIn makes money as long as the users on the platform. Therefore, creating a text post that links back to your blog won’t find favor with the LinkedIn algorithm.
As it relates to your business, It’s super important to be seen as a Thought Leader. When you’re about to launch a course or your membership site, e-book or your 1:1 coaching program, being the Thought Leader is what's going to set you apart and create differentiation for you and your brand.
Keep in mind, Thought Leadership is directly tied to sales. Keep these stats in mind…
75% of buyers say that thought leadership helps them determine who they want to buy from, now or in the future.
8:10 buyers point to Thought Leadership as critical for determining which businesses they want to learn from
~50% of business decision makers say that it is Thought Leadership content has directly led them to do business with another company, business, consultant, etc.
Serving more, selling more, collaborating and growth opportunities in your business is what you want right?! Writing articles that prove you’re a Thought Leader will create all that for you.
Here are 3 ways to leverage LinkedIn Articles in your business...
- As you start gaining more connections and building relationships on LinkedIn, if any articles you’ve written could help or serve your network, you can always send them the link to your article! That’s true for any article, not just your own of course. We should always serve our community and network first with insights we see anywhere! If you’re looking for more eyes on your article as well, you could simply ask your connections in a message if they’d be willing to read your most recent article (send the link in the message so it’s easy for them to read) and ask if they’d be willing to leave their thoughts, comments or insights at the end!
- While I may think LinkedIn is one of the best platforms to be on, I am a believer in being omnipresent in the social media world. Because of that, promoting your article on other platforms informs your followers and audience who are interested in your deeper understanding and insights of your industry. Talk about your newly published LinkedIn article in your Instagram story, link the article in a Facebook Group you think the information could benefit those members, and of course, add the link to your weekly email newsletter so they too can check it out!
- Have you ever been in a “sales” conversation with a potential client who wasn’t quite ready to sign on the dotted line right at that moment? Maybe they needed a little more info, wanted to think about it, or do some research themselves. Pointing leads to your articles on LinkedIn is a great way to do that. Again, this circles back to Thought Leadership and how reading your insights and industry knowledge can be just the thing that helps in their decision making process to move forward.
Articles on LinkedIn are a great way to serve your community and clients. Give them value, educate with your content, show insights and provide your opinion and stance. And SHARE your articles when you can. You’ve got so much wisdom and knowledge, get it out there!
